Starting Monday, we’ll be taking submissions to our new Iron Poet competition. All competitors must be high school students in the Central Illinois area. Monday, we’ll announce a poetic form. To write as a character much different than yourself, it helps to know someone like your protagonist, and imagine how they’d react to situations and feel about them.

ELM publishes poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. We value and welcome work from both established and emerging writers.
